A Plan....

One thing I didn't mention yesterday after the Doctor's visit was "my plan".  I told him that in the next 6 months I wanted to lose 50lbs.  He nodded thoughtfully and suggested that a smaller goal would be a better fit.  He suggested I focus on losing 10% of my weight at a time.  The more I thought of it, the better I felt.  At 331 lbs 9 oz yesterday on the doctors office scale, that would mean an initial goal of 33.1 lbs.  Or a first goal weigh in of 297.9.  From there goal two would be 268.2, goal three would be 241.4 lbs and goal four would be 217.3 (which I honestly feel is my goal weight.  That would be 10 lbs less than my lowest weight when I lost back in 06-07.  So that's it.  My first goal is 297.9.  This morning I was sitting (based on my scale at home) at 324.0, so I'm on my way.  I'm going to set a completion date for Goal 1 for March 1.  That's 9 weeks away or losing approximately 3.7 lbs a week.  I realize this is a bit higher than the prescribed "2 lbs a week", but you've got to shoot for something, right?

Since having this blog, I've opened up occasionally about fears and motivations, but the thought of taking blood pressure medicine for the rest of my life has really shaken me up.  I hope that fear and motivation sticks with me.

I however, stayed up late last night watching TV with the missus so I didn't work out this morning.  Might try to slide something in this evening.

The kicks keep coming...

Realtime blogging, gotta love it.  I'm on hold with my internet provider so I figured let's punch out a blogpost.

Well, today is the day that I've been dreading for some time.  Three months ago my doctor gave me three months to lose some weight and get my blood pressure down.  Well, three months have come and gone.  Three months that should have been at the gym and logging my calories.  Well, after christmas parties, holiday dinners, and the like, my weight was two pounds up from 3 months ago and my blood pressure was the same.  High.  So this nearly 34 year old will be leaving the office to go pick up my prescription for hypertension.  It's a mild medication, but the fact is, this guy, who has been described as gregarious, fun loving, and everyone's friend has a serious problem.

So, tomorrow I work out.  I've watched what I've shoveled into my gullet today.  A chicken "mcmuffin" with egg for breakfast and a bowl of Wendy's chili for lunch.  Not too shabby.  But I'm hungry.

Here's to eating my way off of medication now.  Just another incentive to get shit in order and done.

Feelin Flu-tastic

Well, Day 3 of the Black Plague and I'm feeling a teensy bit better.  The aches are only occasional and I've been able to survive with no ibuprofen.  So I'm hoping Monday will find me back to work and back to working out.

Yesterday was rough, as I was taking care of Little Miss and didn't really get to rest at all, but today I'm proud to say that I have done virtually NOTHING.  NOTHING AT ALL.  It's been lovely.  I've watched some TV, played some Mario... it's been a good day of lethargy.

Peace y'all.

FLU. Wonder-frickin-ful

Flu day 2.  Third day of the year.  I haven't worked out yet and my appetite has been insatiable.  To top it off our cable internet was installed today so I had to clear out a bunch of junk in the basement only to learn, that the guy needed to access somewhere else, which meant I then had to move furniture and other junk elsewhere.  Ughhhh...  BUT, I know have high speed at the house, which means that this blogpost comes courtesy of Jeff's dining room.

Last night, after Mrs. P returned from a funeral visitation, she recommended me to take my plague ridden carcass to the Urgent Care center..... at 7:00.  I waited about an hour for check in, then another hour to get out.  Ughhhhh.....

AND O, our daughter,  has strep (diagnosed whilst she accompanied me to aforementioned Urgent Care Center) so on top of that I've been tending to her, which means, absolutely no rest for me today.  Maybe tomorrow.

That's all I've got right now.  No words of wisdom, except, if you haven't already, GET YOUR FLU SHOT!

This is what a sick and tired Jeff looks like on Day 2 of the new year.  There's been a nasty bug going around and it looks like its decided to make Jeff its host for the short term.  Luckily Dayquil has helped me at least function today, which is a good thing, because today I've needed to function at work.  A project we've had in development for nearly 4 years is "hopefully" getting ready to launch, and I'm trying to get things moving in the right direction.

But you are here regarding "my fatness" which is on glorious display in the aforementioned picture.  I weighed in this morning at 326.  Which sucks.  But, it's a number I shouldn't see tomorrow as I've been really good about my eating (as I really have no energy to exercise today).

Ciao!

So a year has passed and not a lot has changed.  I'm still weighing in at over 300 lbs (closer to 320) and I still need to do more.

Last year just kind of blew by.  After my last post on 1/1/12 I continued going to the gym for another couple of months.  I dropped down to about 285 or so and then started eating bad again.  Then by the time spring rolled around my workouts got increasingly sparse.  Then when summer break hit, and the kids were out of school the workouts disappeared.  I said that I'd be back in the gym in the fall, which happened.... three times.  Willpower's a bitch sometimes.

So, here we are, I'm another year older, the kids are another year older and I'm still digging my grave with a fork and spoon.  So, shit changes today.

I will blog weekly

I will lose 100 lbs

I will look (at least) bearable in a g-string this September (a local theatre is doing a production of The Full Monty).

Since Christmas I've been at the gym every morning.  And this isn't a New Years Resolution, this is a conscious lifestyle choice that happens to coincide with the 1/1/13.
